A Story That Comes Full Circle

Some stories don’t just appear; you have to chase them. That’s been the through-line of my work as a filmmaker: following the threads that others overlook, trusting that persistence will lead to something meaningful.
After years of investigating The FBI’s Secret War, a true crime doc series uncovering the government’s infiltration of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War and the Gainesville Eight, I’ve found myself drawn once again to a story rooted in activism, truth, and resilience.
That story belongs to Jeff Dowd, one of the Seattle Seven, an activist who stood up against the Vietnam War and later became a champion of independent film and creative freedom.
Connecting with Jeff didn’t happen overnight. It took years of follow-up, timing, and a shared belief in the power of story. And now, after his remarkable recovery from a life-threatening brain tumor, I have the privilege of helping him tell his next chapter, a tale of endurance, gratitude, and creative rebirth.
For me, this film isn’t just a continuation of my work; it’s a reminder to every storyteller: stay curious, stay relentless, and never stop knocking on the doors that matter. Because sometimes, persistence leads you straight to the people who shaped history.
